On Tuesday 3rd June 2008 a property in Gaveston Road, Harwell has been burgled. Offenders have gained entry to the property via the rear kitchen window. Cigarette and electrical goods have been stolen. There has been a recent increase in Anti-Social Behaviour and criminal damage offences in the area of Harwell. As your local Police Community Support Officer, please could I ask that all offences of Anti-Social Behaviour and criminal offences are reported to the police using the non emergency number of 08458 505 505 or the 999 system if a crime is in progress. The Police are involved in a multi agency approach to combat such behaviour along with Vale Housing, Environmental Health and Schools.

On Thursday 7th February 2008 there was an attempted break in at School Lane, Harwell. Offenders attempted to gain entry by levering the patio door causing glass to shatter. On Tuesday 27th November a property in Westfield Road, Harwell was burgled. Entry was gained via back windows and property was stolen. If you have seen anyone suspicious or have any information relating to this message, please call the Police on 08458 505 505 and quote URN 984 of 27/11.

Overnight between Wednesday 22nd & Thursday 23rd August, there were breaks to garages in North Drive and the theft of a pedal cycle from Jennings Lane, in Harwell.
This could be the start of a crime series and residents are advised to check security on their garages and outbuildings as well as any rear access points.
Please ask watch members to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious people or vehicles to the police.

There have been incidents reported over the last few days about bogus water officials knocking on doors, asking to come in and check residents water supplies, following the floods. These bogus officials have been reported making calls in the Abingdon and Wantage areas. These incidents have been checked out with Thames Water, who said they had no one working in the area.
Please pass this message on, and remind any elderly or vulnerable residents NOT to let anyone in without checking identification first.

Trading Standards have been alerted that two young women are going door to door throughout Oxfordshire, asking for donations for the Farmoor Reservoir Pontoon Project.
There is such a project, but a trustee has said, that they are not collecting door to door. This is noted on their website www.pontoonproject.com
One of the women is described as being in her late teens/early 20's, of large build and wearing very small glasses.

On Saturday 28th April, between 10:30hrs and 17:20hrs, a property in Westfield, Harwell, was burgled. Entry was gained via an insecure window and property stolen, including an XBox and a Playstation computer, with games.
