The Harwell Players

At the beginning of World War II Mrs Edith Cale came to live in Harwell, and as she had previously been involved in producing plays, she at once had a drama group going. She soon had a very competent group working for several charities, including the British Legion benefit fund and other worthwhile charities.

The plays included The Ghost Train, A Pair of Diamond Buckles, The Ladies of Cranford, Interference, and A Christmas Carol, which was a superb production.

The actions played to full houses in the village for two nights for each production and also visited surrounding villages, where they were always made very welcome.
