Government’s announcement 23 March
Following the PM’s announcements last night, the parish will obviously be affected in many ways. Please let the council know if you have any difficulties because of self-isolating or the restrictions being imposed. The help group Harwell Helpers is also ready and willing to assist – please see separate post on this website but they are aiming to help with things like
• Collecting shopping for the elderly / people in self-isolation
• Picking up medication for the elderly / people in self-isolation
• Helping with dog walking for the elderly / people in self-isolation
• Offering online or phonecall support to the elderly / people in social isolation
The council grounds maintenance workers will stay at home apart from essential cemetery duties so some council business may fall into arrears, eg dog bin emptying and grass cutting. Please bear with us during the lockdown period and we will catch up as quickly as possible. During this period, please take litter and dog mess home with you and use your own bins.
The play area has been closed and locked and although the outdoor gym equipment and all other equipment outside the play area fence on the recreation ground is unlocked it should not be used until government restrictions are lifted.
Allotments can still be tended but please observe government rules on social distancing. Further advice for allotment holders can be viewed on the National Allotment Society website.
Parish council meetings have been cancelled until further notice, and the parish office is closed – the clerk will continue to work from home and can be contacted on the council telephone number.
Advice on social distancing, hand washing and general information about Covid-19 can be found on the Gov.uk website.
