Didcot Garden Town meeting

November 24, 2020 By clerk Leave a Comment

30 November 5.30 – 7.00 pm

Residents and groups invited to new garden town event

Local residents and community groups are invited to get involved with the Didcot Garden Town projects by joining a brand-new resident sounding board event on Monday 30 November.

The first of its kind, the garden town team are asking people of all ages, from Didcot and surrounding villages, to attend a virtual event to hear about how far the garden town has come since being awarded the status in 2015 and to listen to details of future projects, such as new roads and cycle paths being planned for the local area.

Everyone joining the meeting will have the chance to submit their comments on which projects are most important within the whole garden town area and, at the start of the meeting, several residents will be given the opportunity to ask questions. The team will be looking to ask residents and community groups where temporary and pop-up spaces could take place in the future and what sort of events they’d like to see.

The virtual resident sounding board takes place online at 5.30pm on Monday 30 November and to receive a link to speak at the beginning or request to join and take part in the meeting, residents and groups can register via SODC website. Deadline to register to attend is midnight on 26 November.

This is the first time the residents sounding board has been arranged and follows a parish council sounding board that took place earlier this year. The residents, business and parish council sounding boards meet twice a year to give feedback and ideas for the Didcot Garden Town Advisory Board set to take place in January for further discussion.

The Didcot Garden Town Advisory Board was formed by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils and is joined by representatives from Oxfordshire County Council, OxLEP, Homes England, Didcot Town Council and the parish councils, to listen to views and encourage recommendations to be taken to respective councils for formal decisions to be made
