Invitation to nominate unsung heroes in the parish
Vale Chairman Councillor Margaret Crick writes;
I am sure you are aware that each year the Chairman of the Vale of White Horse District Council hosts a lunch to celebrate the huge amount of voluntary work that helps to make the Vale such a wonderful place to live. This year the honour falls to me and I am writing this letter to ask for your nominations.
This year the lunch will take place on Saturday 28 September 2019 at the Beacon in Wantage and it is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the efforts of the army of volunteers and to say thank you.
I have been a member of the Vale of White Horse District Council and the Abingdon Town Council for many years. As I go about my duties I see and hear of many selfless people who contribute a great deal to their local communities so I am sure you will have no difficulty in making suitable nominations.
Past recipients have included church wardens, youth group leaders, community gardeners, community shop organisers and good neighbours schemes; but I am sure there are many other worthy organisations and individuals who could be nominated.
The only qualifying criteria are that the work must be carried out for the benefit of communities in the Vale area and that no payment is received.
Please ask the parish clerk for nominations forms or email the details by 9 August to:
